RoughHouse Brewing

Located on their family’s 50-acre ranch in San Marcos, the brewery focuses on executing farmhouse ales, traditional lagers and spontaneous cave-aged beers that complement the Texas backdrop—dry, crisp and refreshing.

We started Roughhouse Brewing in January 2019 with a drive to do meaningful work that brought us closer to our land, ourselves, and our community. For us, Roughhouse represents the playful and loving familial aspect of our lives coupled with the old, rustic qualities of home and our history. For you, we hope it’s a comfortable spot to meet and share a beer and connect with each other.

Day 11 - Roughhouse Brewing: Smoke Rings - Roughhouse's 4th Anniversary Lager is a smoked dark lager with cocoa nibs. I like it. This brew has a nice little heft to it: It's not super heavy like a stout; it's mid-range like a brown ale. The smokey flavor is interesting and quite enjoyable. The aroma to this brew is not too strong,  but it is very nice. The beer goes down very smooth, and the dark chocolate element lingers on the backend. I don't think I'll be clamoring to have this one again,  but I really enjoyed it. 6.0% ABV

It's almost the official start of spring,  so you know what that means: Springtime Beertime 4! Follow along as we review to the equinox.

Day 01 - Roughhouse Brewing: Hill Country Light - This is a pretty standard light lager, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a light crispness to it like a light hop flavor,  but this is nothing too extreme. This brew is smooth drinking,  and I could see it pairing well with some barbecue (the more I think about it,  the more I wish I was drinking it with some barbecue). As a stand alone drink,  it is not that impressive. However, I'm not disappointed. If you wanted to share one with me,  I would not say "no." 4.5% ABV #springtimebeertime #roughhousebrewing
